If you are planning to call someone using your device connected to Alexa, you need to add the contacts to Alexa in the first place. For this, you need to install the Alexa app on your mobile phone and click on the ‘Communicate’ option at the bottom of the screen.  Install the Alexa App

‘App Store’ in your Android or iOS device, respectively, and Alexa app to install it. This follows the general procedure for any app installation and would take only a couple of minutes.

 Click on the ‘Communicate’ button

Once the app has been installed on your mobile phone, you need to open the app. On the opening screen, you will see a button that says ‘Communicate.’ Click on it.

Once you click on the ‘Communicate’ button, you will get to see a person-shaped icon on the top-right corner of the screen. Select the button. If you are opening the app for the first time, it will ask you for permission to ‘allow’ access to the contact. Give access to the Alexa app to access your contacts.

Click on the three-dotted menu button on the top-right of the screen to move on.

Import Contact

The dropdown menu appears, which has the option on ‘import contacts’ in it. Click on ‘Import contacts’ to allow Alexa to import all contacts from your mobile phone to the Alexa device. If you do not see the ‘Import contacts’ option right away, it could be due to the inactivity of the icon. Activate it by clicking on the toggle button beside ‘import contacts’ and go on to add your contact directly.

It Is Done

Once the previous steps are done, you can go on to make calls and messages to your contact from the Alexa device directly. You can also block or unblock your contacts from the Alexa device and stop receiving their calls or messages on Alexa.

How To Edit Or Update Contacts?

To edit contact, you can directly make the changes in the contacts app and then go on to the Alexa app to view the changes. The contacts, once updated on the contacts app, will be visible in the Alexa app as well. In the contact icon on the Alexa app, you will find an option to edit the contacts. You can edit any contact from there, and Alexa will be updated in the altered information directly

How To Add Individual Contacts?

You can add individual contacts on the Alexa device as well with the help of the contact feature on the Alexa app. For this, you need to click on the menu icon on the top-right corner of the screen followed by the ‘add contact’ option. You must tap on ‘save’ once you are done adding the contact to allow it to be updated for Alexa to use.

  • You need to open the Alexa App
  • Click on the ‘Devices’ option
  • You need to select the Alexa and Echo device
  • Click on the Echo device that you wish to pair your Alexa
  • Click on ‘Select Alexa Gadget’ and select the Alexa device you want to pair.
  • The pairing will be done automatically, and you will be notified about it.
