If you want to converse with Samuel L. Jackson and give him voice requests, you can do the following:

  1. Say “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson.”
  2. Confirm the purchase of the skill with Alexa
  3. Choose either explicit or clean content
  4. Once the skill is available, say, “Alexa, ask Samuel to play some soft music.” Similarly, you can ask for weather reports, stories, or anything you want.
  5. You can change the wake word as Samuel and use it like Alexa

The wake word is the name used to wake up Alexa when you have some voice commands for her. Usually, the wake word is ‘Alexa’, and a few words can replace it. This can be done by either using the Alexa app or voice command. Here is how you can change Alexa’s name using both ways.

Using The Alexa App:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your device
  2. Press the three parallel lines seen on the top left corner.
  3. Tap on Settings and then on Device Settings
  4. Choose the device name in which you want to change the wake word
  5. Come down and tap on the Wake Word option
  6. You will see four choices that can be used as the wake word: Amazon, Alexa, Echo, and Computer. You can select the one you want to use.
  7. Wait for a few seconds before giving voice commands with the new wake word.

Using Voice Command:

  1. Say, “Alexa, change the wake word.”
  2. Alexa will give you four choices of wake words to choose from. They are Amazon, Alexa, Echo, and Computer.
  3. Say the wake word that you want to use.
  4. Alexa will confirm the word with you.
  5. Now, try using the new wake word to give voice commands

Change The Name Alexa Calls You

How great it would be if Alexa is calling you by your name. It will turn the whole interaction into a two-way communication where you will address each other with real names. Here is how you can change the name Alexa calls you.

  1. Sign in to the Alexa app
  2. Press the Communicate icon on the bottom of the screen
  3. Press the Person icon on the top right corner
  4. Select the name that is displayed on top of the My Communications Setting option
  5. Now press Edit, which is on the top right
  6. Type in your first name and last name in the respective boxes
  7. Press the Save option

Alexa and Pikachu Talk

Alexa has a new skill called Pikachu Talk, using which your device will converse with you in the voice of Pikachu, one of the Pokemon creatures. Follow the steps to enable the skill.

  1. Open the Alexa app on your device
  2. Press the drop-down box seen on the top left corner of the home page
  3. Open the Amazon store by selecting Skills
  4. When you search for Pikachu, the Pikachu skill will come up
  5. Tap on Enable to enable the skill on your device
  6. You can also use voice commands to tell Alexa to enable the Pikachu Talk skill
  7. After the skill is enabled, say, “Alexa, ask Pikachu to talk,” and you can now talk to Pikachu.


It can be super fun to play around by changing the settings of Alexa, including her name, accent, and wake word. Unfortunately, you cannot change Alexa’s voice to that of Jarvis, but you can still enjoy it by enabling a celebrity voice. Hopefully, the company will come up with more options in the future.
