In this article I will offer very simple but complete step-by-step instructions for how to pair a Jabra Steel wireless headset to any device – an Android or Apple phone or any PC.
First we’ll cover the most basic steps, which should help you get your Steel connected quickly and easily, and then we’ll go over some basic troubleshooting points if it doesn’t work.
Then at the end of the article I will offer more detailed instructions for finding and using the Bluetooth page on any phone or computer – Apple, Android or Windows.
How to Connect Jabra Steel Headset to Any Device
Step 1 – Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your phone or PC
- For specific instructions on how to do this with an Apple iPhone or PC, an Android phone or a Windows PC, see below
Step 2 – Make sure your Jabra Steel headset is close enough to the device
- Effective Bluetooth range can be several hundred feet, but for pairing I like to have the headset and the device right next to each other
Step 3 – Turn your Jabra Steel headset on
- Press the Power Button – located on the side of the Jabra Steel’s stem, below the earpiece and next to the USB charging port – and hold for 3 seconds
Step 4 – Put your your Steel headset in pairing mode
- Press the Answer/End button – located at the top of the stem, just above the earpiece – for hold for 3 seconds, until the LED indicator flashes blue.
If this is the first time you are using your Jabra Steel wireless headset, it should enter into pairing mode automatically when you turn it on, and the Bluetooth light should already be flashing
Step 5 – Go back to your device’s Bluetooth page and select your Jabra Steel headset
- If your Steel headset is powered on and in pairing mode, it should appear here. If not, go back to the previous steps – and make certain the headset is close enough to your device and sufficiently charged
- Also, If you don’t see your Steel headset listed, you can refresh the list, or turn Bluetooth off and on
- Again, for more specific instructions on how to do this with an Apple phone or PC, an Android phone or a Windows PC, see below
Your Jabra Steel headset should now be paired and connected to your device. The LED indicator light should now be glowing steady blue, and if you are playing music or any other audio you should be able to hear it.
Please note that you only have to go through this manual pairing process one time – after that, your Jabra headset and your phone, PC or other Bluetooth gadget will automatically find each other and pair every time they are turned on and in range
How to Connect Jabra Steel Headset: Basic Troubleshooting
- Make sure your Jabra Steel headset is not just on and pairing, but is sufficiently charged
- Remember that your headset and device have to be in range of each other – this can be several hundred feet, but when pairing I always have them right next to each other
- Make sure you are actually playing something – music, a movie, an audiobook or any other audio
- Check the volume controls on your Steel headset, your gadget and your media player, making sure they are all turned up at least a bit
- Make sure your PC, phone, tablet or other device is not locked or in airplane mode
- Power down your headset and restart your PC or phone, and try the process again
- If all else fails, you can always contact the Jabra Online Support Page
And finally, if you’ve arrived at this article, but you actually have a different pair of Jabra headphones – that is, not Steel headset, but a different model – you can go to our more general article: How To Pair Jabra Headphones: A Simple Guide.
